How  it Works

Save A Vet Foundation (SAV)® is dedicated to the humanity and the dignity of the soldier by contracting with civilian hospitals and care clinics to overcome the current challenges of limited resources of the VA health system.

A conduit for care and collaboration between local health care facilities and the VA network, SAV envisions a fortified military now and for the future, whose loyalty is inspired not only for the love of this great nation and the people they protect, but in their conviction that the government and it’s people are behind them by restoring optimal quality of life through all available medical pathways - for them and their loved ones.

Step 1. Veterans either apply to SAV directly or are referred from Veteran advocacy groups, the VA or VSOcare system for expedited services at civilian facilities. SAV coordinates the delivery of these services with VA physicians and staff when indicated.

Step 2. The Veteran receives expedited diagnostic and therapeutic services through SAV’s contractual relationships with a network of private sector and not-for-profit hospitals, and board-certified specialists in the specific medical discipline needed. SAV collaborates with other Veterans Service Organizations for optimal service.

Step 3. If under the care of the VA the Veteran returns to the VA system with diagnostic reports of the highest standard. VA physicians and clinicians utilize these tests and recommendations to set a treatment schedule for the Veteran.

Step 4. SAV Foundation is able to provide this coordination of critical health care services for our Veteran through the financial support of private donors, fund-raising events, governmental grants and the generosity of our corporate partners.

Save A Vet Foundation serves to honor American Veterans and their families primarily whose lives are permanently changed due to the suffering incurred from battle. Financial limitations necessitate prioritization of need to be effective in our primary objective of providing payment to adjunctive health care facilities for wounded Veterans. Our priorities are as follows:

First: Through collaboration and coordinated care with the VA or advocacy organizations, any physically, mentally or emotionally - affected Veteran who served in battle and whose treatment or testing is delayed will obtain approval for funding and service for direct patient care.

Second: Veteran medical needs unrelated to battle, but considered direct service-connected injuries (possibly referred from Veteran Legal Aide) will be reviewed for approval.

Third: To connect Veterans with community educational and employment programs focusing on specific types of battle-related injuries, military and VA processes.

Fourth: To assist Veterans without other health care resources in need of medical care to restore a productive quality of life.

Fifth: To assist special cases presenting need for medical care that directly affect the service veteran, such as well spouse/family programs.
